The Bodacious Bodines are back on the road!  Three singing sisters, once a Country Music sensation are singing again, but their daughters have joined the group and it is off to Nashville to try to make it in the music business. And, there is more than a little rivalry about who will be the lead singer of the group. Could it be one of Raylene daughters? But Arlene Bodine was the former lead singer. Arlene and Raylene have some issues anyway, since Raylene stole Arlene’s husband all those years ago. Then, there is wacky and clumsy Durleen Bodine and her daughter. The sisters and their girls will present a Farewell Concert. Join us in songs and shenanigans in A Country Music Murder. Directed by Karen Vuranch.  Reservations required. $

Timothy Seaman – Dinner and Musical Performance
Hawks Nest State Park

Acoustic soloist Timothy Seaman has an eclectic blend of music styles unlike others: sometimes the deep voice of his four-octave extended-range hammered dulcimer takes on the heart of a Chopin ballad, and at other times the festivity of an old-time mountain dance or a contemporary interpretation of a whitewater canoe ride. A specialist in nature, Celtic roots and folk hymns, Timothy has produced or co-produced 15 recordings. Expect to be exhilarated, amused, awed, surprised, personally involved (maybe singing a chorus or playing along on Irish bodhran or Thai frog), and enriched by real substance. Come and find traditional, newly composed, and Baroque music that reviewers have referred to as “soul-to-soul” and “highly lyrical.” Reservations required. $

The Mary Ingles Trail Associates presents a historical drama based on research of the life of Mary Draper Ingles. Embroiled in the turmoil of the French & Indian War, Mary was captured by the Shawnee Indians in July of 1755 and after several months, she escaped and made her way back home by walking over 500 miles. That journey took her through the Kanawha Valley of West Virginia. Come join us for an educational living history lesson of early western Virginia (with emphasis on the Kanawha Valley region) from the 1750’s – 1800’s. During this drama, participants will be able to visit with Mary Draper Ingles and hear some of her story; learn about some of the challenges faced by Rebecca Boone, wife of the famous Daniel Boone; as well as glimpse into the lives of many other historical figures of the past. Also during the drama you will hear about the lives of the Cherokee, Shawnee, and other Eastern Woodland Indians in our area, and become acquainted with how settlers of this land felt about its vastness and dangers.
